The occasions we've been part of

مناسبات جمعتنا

Cultural evenings under our own roof, tables set for the city's institutions, and one very good night at the Melkweg. A record of where Napata has been welcomed — and it is still being written.

  1. 2022 Utrecht

    Napata opens on Euclideslaan

The Netherlands' first and only Sudanese and Nubian kitchen opens in the space beneath Graduate Space, the creative workspace run by Nils de Witte — who put plates, cutlery and faith behind it when belief was the scarcest resource of all.

  2. Since 2022 Euclideslaan 60

Cultural evenings under our own roof

A full room, an oud, a keyboard, and a table long enough for everyone at it. The evenings that began as a way to gather the Sudanese community in the Netherlands are now a mix of people and cultures — which is, as our guests put it, exactly what makes it feel like home.

  3. 2024 Melkweg, Amsterdam

    Beste Nieuwkomer Spotlight Award

Winner in the Food category — a celebration of culture and resilience. Accepting it, Abdelrahman spoke of the Dutch table: already richly set with Ethiopian and Eritrean, Indonesian and Surinamese, Turkish and Moroccan. Now, finally, the Sudanese plate sits among them. Read the citation

  4. Next Utrecht and beyond

    Your occasion

Weddings, henna nights, Eid, conferences, opening evenings. Tell us the date and how many are coming, and we will build the table around it.

Tables we've set for the city

Alongside our own evenings, Napata has cooked for universities, city departments and the organisations that look after newcomers in Utrecht. Their marks are on the testimonials page, next to what their guests said afterwards.
